So Last Night we went to Barnes & Noble to browse around. I was looking in the Parenting section on books about raising boys. They have always been a mystery to me & now I am raising one.
Anyways, I am trying to advance my already superior parenting skills.
Yes I will say it loud & proud SUPERIOR PARENTING! You should say it too..You all know we all go way above the abnormal "NORM" of parenting.
So back to Barnes & Noble. I am standing at the parenting books and this little girl of about 9 says to her mom " Mama can I get this book" It was a book about Barrack Obama made for kids. The mom says (loud & mean), "Why you want that book?" The girl replied something about just wanting it because she was wanted to see about him. The mom then says "NO, no books , and you better not give me that STUPID look of yours again."
This about the time when I wanted to hit her with one of the bigger parenting books I had within reach. I know violence solves nothing and the poor book doesn't deserve it.
So, I don't think it was just because it was an Obama book, because she just seemed that she just didn't want to spend $$ on books in general. If it was because of Obama she could have handled it differently. I myself will let Bubbinz read anything age appropriate that he wants. Whether it be Barbies or W. Bush. If he wants a book its his. I always make a point of giving books to him as gifts too. They are not something you HAVE to read , they are gifts just like toys.
If it was about money she could have handled it differently too. Mr. bubbinz is well aware of the fact that sometimes we just cant afford it. No shame..that's how life is.
The biggest point is is that she called her child STUPID. In an around about way, but nonetheless she did.
Poor kid..Glad Mr. Bubbinz doesn't have to sit next to her in class.

You never know what her issue was but it curls my toenails too. I don't always buy my kids every book they want but if I can afford it I do or I suggest they save for it or whatever. I see a lot of parenting that really bothers me.
I know there are times people might think that about me too though not having seen the whole story behind a situation but I would like to think I would never speak to my kids with so little respect.

That is terrible. I always think if people feel comfortable saying something like that out in public, what do they say in private!!!
